Have you actually housed your istlanums with other cichlids though?

The likelier outcome would be, istlanum and everyone else outgrowing the Grammodes.. And if you keep the community for years.. The Grammodes will catch up and wreak havoc. But in a 360g like I said should be no issue.

Grammodes is more aggressive from my experience.. But it varies with personality. Grammodes are obvious predators, large head and mouth... Thin body. Istlanum would be a better personable fish IMO but it's not a first choice if we have other cichlids in line. However, a large male Grammodes...

Of course.. But I don't record my Grammodes every move lol. He's killed several cichlids from jags to umbees. And mostly overnight when the lights are off. Nocturnal killer.

In fact I have an old video of my Grammodes as a juvenile.. Look how beat the poor jaguar was, the Grammodes literally tried chewing it's face. You don't see this kind of aggression in CA/SA cichlids often..

Most Grammodes are silent killers. You rarely see them do it in front of you. My old male was a sneaky little (insert word here) lol. The cichlids that were too large for him to take down were pecked behind their backs often by him. Just little piece of crap lol

That is why they're rated some of the nastiest cichlids out there. That little Grammodes is only like what? 4-5 inches? And he's causing havoc in a 180g lol

Watch it all, that little fish is a Grammodes and the owner is not even aware. Look at that sucker

Just because a cichlid is shy doesn't mean it's not capable of killing. In fact, often times the more shy the more aggressive. A 4 inch Grammodes is well capable of dominating fish twice their size

Go buy a nice size Grammodes and see if it's the same situation. Lol

Jack Dempseys are perfect for that community as well as Cubans.. Tough beautiful and will hold their own. In a 300g that'd be a perfect community IMO.

I agree. My male Grammodes was only ever put in check after my red devil or butti outgrew him by a significant amount. He was absolutely horrible, killed my umbee and many more I gotta try out neets. I just never see them around, I'll have to order them online

What do you normally feed them? I hear they're herbivores
