No major changes to the tanks themselves. The temps are consistant. I do weekly water changes on all my tanks. It seems though every 3 days I need to top off the tanks. I think its because the windows are closed now and the heat is dry. Maybe a humidifier will help.

That hook is huge! I would be afraid of one of my fish getting caught on it. Might you try threading the shrimp through a piece of thread or string and then lowering it into the tank.

If they are white stringy like worms. It soinds like detrius worms and are indicative of not cleaning your gravel well. Though a pic might help. I would remove the gravel clean well and put it back.
