the owner of a lfs said that uarus do not ship well (the first order he got only 1 out of 20 survived, but i think the 1 eventually died, all were covered in ick) well the owner got another shipment and he has had 15 babys for at least a week, but they are covered in ick.

i have been wanting more uarus ever since i got my 7" one about 6 months ago.

so i was thinking, i have a 10 gal that i can set up as a quar. tank. i was thinking of buying 6 of the uarus ($8 each at a size of 1/2") and put them in the quar tank with a temp of 86-88, salt, and maybe some ridich/ichattack.

if they survive (which i am praying that they will) i would trade in my discus in my 55 and have a group of small uarus.

ok so heres a question, do you guys think i would be able to treat the ich with sooo tiny uarus?

Salt and heat combo. All instructions are found in the sticky thread. Make sure you have a warranty with your LFS in case the fish do not make it. I prefer to leave the infected ones at the LFS and treat there as transporting is very stressful.

ok so should i ask him (the owner) that if he can cure them from ich, i'll buy them?

or should i just buy some and try to cure them?

If I were you, help him with the ich treatment. Use salt and be sure to dissolve and add it slowly. It doesn't matter if the salt is iodized or not as the myth abut iodides and other additives is moot. He can learn from you once the treatment succeeds. Ich normally will not kill the fish, just stress them so you need to hit their weakest point, being the immune system which if improved, the ich is unable to weaken its host any further. Focus on nutritious foods and do daily water changes while the fish are undergoing treatment.

Print out the information in Freshwater Disease Guide about ich. This will help you convince him you may have something in there that would help the uarus.
