I recently rescued 1 Male Purple Betta. I currently have him in my 2.5g plant growout tank and he seems happy as a clam. My question is, since it is just 1 Betta, would he be ok with about 14+ Mollies & Swordtails, 4 Emerald Cory Cats, and 1 Baby Silvertail Shark?

Water Quality is ok for the Betta. I'm only concerned with fish compatibility, and if the Betta would be ok fending for food.

My Mom had a female betta with platies in a 5, had to get rid of the betta. She kept eatin the fins off the platies. A male would be much more agressive, so i would have to guess no.

I've had alotta good luck keeping single male bettas in comunity tanks. They don't seen to be overly agressive towards fish of different species.

The only problems I've encountered are with some nippier species of fish (barbs+clown loaches) seem to be drawn to the bettas eligant fins.

Livebearers should be ok, though.

Sometimes you can sometimes you can't. It just depends on the betta. Each one has their own personality. I had luck keeping one in a tropical tank and one that would just nip at every fish. Sometimes even the other fish will pick on the betta, it just depends.

the only thing that might be a problem at the moment would be the swordtails they might nip a bit at the betta.

I have done it many times. It definatly depends on the bettas temperment. Mine acually kept my 7 inch clown knife holed up in a log until night fall when the betta went to sleep. The Ck couldnt even stick his head out without the betta flaring up and scaring him right back in. I acually had to remove the betta from the tank! lol my Cks a big baby though. Id give it a shot
