My friend Kris (Machine) gave me this 30g setup since he didn't have room for it in his new place.

I've been thinking of how to scape it, and really had a pre-planned look I wanted to go for.

I finally got to do a hardscape without having to work around the needs of bichirs! lol

Anyways, I finished setting it up in one day, check out the progression:

Cleaned and ready for gravel:

Decided to go with my favorite gravel:

Really happy with the driftwood:

After the drftwood was in place, I added some 'mulm' (fish poop) from my established 60g, to seed the new gravel:

Kris built the stand and canopy:

Hid the heater behind the driftwood:

...and with a few plants from my 60g, and some rocks I bought specifically for this tank, I finished off the tank in one day:

Hell yeah, that 30 looks awesome with the canopy. Nice tank.

Thanks Kanta, yeah he did a solid build on the canopy and stand. The canopy holds itself open, and has a notch taken out to open the lid.

I've never had a tank with a canopy, so I proudly put this tank in my living room.

Looks awesome bro. Not gonna paint the back?

Thanks bro, this is the setup I used the light on :)

I didn't want to commit to another painted tank (my 60g is red) but Kris gave me a black/blue background so I used it.

nice scape job looks good

Thanks ramirez, I like the lace rock driftwood combo, I've used it before in my old 120g.

When the plants in the back grow in a bit, it's going to look 1000 times better. I'm gonna add moss to the driftwood, and maybe a couple anubias or more fern.

Nice job! Tank looks great! NIce canopy and stand as well.

Thank you, I'm really happy with how it turned out.

I'm thinking of getting some cardinal tetras today, one of our LFS has them cheap.
