Hi all. I am not new to fish keeping, I've had fresh and salt water tanks for years. I am curious about something though. My friend has purchased one of those unfiltered 1 gallon Betta tanks and he wants to add a single betta to it. He was wondering though if anything else can go in there with it, such as a couple small ghost shrimp.

My tanks are all filtered, from my 120 gallon down to my betta containers, so he wouldn't listen to my strong recommendation to get a filtered tank and that's why I am pitching the question here lol  So, can a couple ghost shrimp or possibly a couple neon tetras go in there with the betta?

Thanks in advance for your responses everyone! :)

i would say no, not with out another gallon or two and a filter added,

1 gallon is bare bare minimum for a betta he can live in it with the proper water changes but even so..nothing beats a filtered heated tank for a happy betta.

betta is a only type of fish..if you ask me but i think a filter tank is better but idk on a heater..

he needs a filter and a heater even for the betta alone. plus the tank could be a little bigger

yeah that basically confirms what I told him. Now I'll show him that everyone agrees with my initial sentiment lol

Thanks guys :D

..they are tropical and prone to velvet in low temps

happiest around 80o-85o
