$1 Gurgle Killer (for DIY overflow)

I built a couple of the DIY overflows. The only problem with them is the gurgling from the vent tube. The solution: A rubber cork with a 5/32 hole drilled in it. Now it is quiet and still functions as normal!!

Yep. You can use that or a PVC cap with a hole drilled in it.

Or you can use a bit of old bonded filter pad/ poly-fill/ or some other foam. Just roll it up and stick it in the tube. A coarse media will still allow enough it in, but will muffle the noise.
Best of all... Its free. Just cut. Chuck off your filter pad when you're changing the one in your sump.

I tried the pvc cap and the filter foam, neither was as quiet as this is.

Lowes in the hardware dept, about half way down the aisle with all the loose bolts, in a drawer.

use a chrome air filter from a car but keep it shiney.
it would work and look cool aswell.
I kill 2 birds with one stone,
even if i have to find the rock so i can kill the second bird.
