Hello,
I just got 4 tiny 1 inch baby smallmouth bass and one 1 inch channel catfish, any recommendations for caring for these fish? I have them in a 2 1/2 gallon because that was the only one I could get my hands on for now. It has plants floating at the top and gravel on the bottom.

Please reply Asap,
Terrimary

Get a bigger tank asap, get a good air-stone and filter for them, make some caves and put some driftwood in way bigger tank. Post some pics, good luck growing them out and welcome to MFK

Also for now while have this small tank what else can I do now to increase there chances of living?

Get them small live foods. At think at this size they will only eat live food. Try really tiny minnows or maybe even scuds. Do you know what size these fish grow to as adults? Real soon you are gonna need something bigger.

would shrimp or blood worms work, this is there first day so I don't know if their going to eat anything now.

The bigger the tank the better! For now you could try a 10-20 gallon tank? Small mouths are probally fast growers? Large mouths are. Feed them dried bloodworms, worms, crushed food/flakes, beef heart.

You can get a tablespoon of live blackworms at most fishstores for $1. You can try frozen bloodworms too. You might wanna try some small feeder guppies too if all else fails. If you don't know anything about these fish I suggest you do some research on them. Could you explain your set up to us? Have you added any plants or hiding spots?

Ok thank you, i have a 10 gallon with crickets for my frogs so I can put those in a smaller tank and put the smallmouths and catfish in the 10 gallon. will frozen blood worms work?
