I have a 48” 75 gallon tank (not set up yet) that I bought 2 Aquaclear 50s for. However, I just realized they won’t fit over the rim of the aquarium. From what I’m reading, an Aquaclear 110 will. It is my understanding that once you hit 48”+ in tank length, it is ideal to have 2 filters (one for each end), vs 1 to most adequately filter the tank. What do the experts in here think? One 110 should be enough for this tank, but should I look for another brand so that I can have 2 filters?

i suggest 2 Aquaclear 110 one on each side. You can adjust the flow.

Thanks for the replies! Isn’t that overkill?
That’s what I used on my 75g tank....plus it helps when you decide to upgrade the tank....you won’t need to upgrade the filters ???

My 2x AC110 moved from 75, 80, 90, and now to the 135g tank.

You could get away with just 1 AC110 on the 75g no problem.

Having 2 filters also helps if one decides to quit, gets clogged, or the impeller stops.
