I purchased a an Ultilma 6000 Bio Filter to split over two tanks... only problem is I purchased before I thought this out.

How am I going to split this over the the two tanks?

Is it as simple as installing a bulkhead on each tank - plumb it to the pump - plumb over to bio filter - install gate valve - regulate flow so that output is equal to each tank - DONE?

Each tank is to have their own respective sump.

Thanks for the help guys,

If so, WOW, that's a serious filter and yes I think your plan as outlined above would be that simple and direct.

Yes - that's the one.

I plan to use it on my 2 larger tanks.

a bit of overkill i suppose.

Make sure you size the overflows accordingly, it could be possible to starve one sump and flood a tank/sump without a balance tube between tanks.

If tanks are side by side, a simple 2" inverted "U" hooked over both tank sides and prime it. A course screen on each side would keep small fish where they're suppose to be.

Dr. Joe,

Could I just drill a a 2" bulk head into the side of each tank? Run the plumbing to a T, then to the Pump/Bio Filter, then T it to their respective tanks where I will control the outflow accordingly?

Thanks again,
