good price?, do they make good pets? some sites say yes.

"I am looking for a good home for my baby, she is very sweet and mellow. You can google her to see what she looks like or email me for pictures. She is only about 18 inches right now but she will get a lot bigger. I work full time and go out of town two days a week. She deserves a lot more love and attention than I have time for. If you have never had a boa before she is not a good starter snake because she can be tricky to feed sometimes. She needs a devoted pet owner. I am requesting an adoption fee of 80$ because I only want serious buyers who want to offer her a good loving home. She comes with her cage because she is comfy in her little habitat." (craigslist add).

not my craigslist post, I found it at my local craigslist.

It is not my post my questions are in the first line. MY other questions I have are going to hopefully be answered in the email I sent the seller.

"While obtaining a Dumerils boa on the pet trade used to be difficult due to their CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) protected species status, recent years of captive breeding success has put this wonderful snake within the reach of most owners. They are listed in appendix 1 on CITES so even captive bred specimens require paperwork and microchipping, but any reputable breeder or dealer will be able to advise on this." Is this true?

If so does it mean the animal they are selling is illegal due to not mentioning the paperwork needed?

Or does it simply mean they're mentally handicapped?

where are you from? in the us you dont need paper work. no microchipping required here in wi. you can get them at shows. i think i see babies at shows between 75-100 bucks. retail they go for more. the lfs by me has them for 229.99 each. i've seen adults got for 300 at the same store.

Northern California, USA.

So it sounds like a good price. I'm still waiting for replies to my emails from seller, and that won't be till tomorrow more than likely.

Holy mis-information........

CITIES has nothing to do with animals crossing STATE lines.......

CONVENTION IN INTERNATIONAL TRADE IN ENDANGERED SPECIES

However, take the "Endangered" part with a grain of salt........

The ESA and Lacey Act dictate what crosses STATE lines, CITIES monitors Global Trade.......

CITIES 1 animals can cross State lines as long as they aren't ESA listed, at which point you'd need a CBW Permit from both buyer and seller.....Unless the animal was "gifted".......
