My project was to take two 10 gallon aquariums and remove one of the long walls on each tank, thus leaving three walls still up. I cleaned up the edges and adhered the 2 tanks together along the joint. Then I reinforced the joints with strips of glass 4" wide. I put 2 lines of silicone on the inside of the silicone to help hold the 2 tanks together, then I put a good amount on the edges of each piece to make it water tight. My first DIY, no help, and it holds water and doesn't leak on my first attempt! Check it out and rate it on a 1-10 scale (1 bad, 10 excellent)! The bubbles are just air bubbles because I just filled it all up today, plus the rocks have been releasing air bubbles all day.

Ill give u a 10 for creativity and final product as i was surprised at how good it looks, but have to give you a 0 for not having any top trim or bracing. It has to be bowing pretty bad? Maybe not but it sure scares me. Nice footprint now tho lol

Yeah it bows a little but not that bad. It is setup in my back yard so if it bursts I'm not looking at any damage to property. I will be building a better stand for it (it is on some level bricks). Looks good at night when you can only see the tank haha as for bracing, I don't know. I am figuring that part out. I was planning on using the old plastic rim but it was rendered unusable during removal. I am thinking of building q stand that will also go up over the tank and provide some support that way. Any ideas for top bracing and support? I could order some more 1/8" glass and make a brace that sits inside the rim pulling the sides in for some extra support. Could it work better then the first idea? I will be keeping it outside an I like being able to view it from all four sides and don't want anything blocked. I like the second idea best. Atleast for now.

^ for corals

Have you thought about using one of the replaced sides on the top? It should give the bracing you're lacking. the draw back is of course getting in the way of maintenance.

My origi.sk plan was to use the sides for reinforcing the new joints. I couldbt get a straight cut and they kept breaking. So those pieces are not useable anymore unfortunately.

Pieces of wood trim on top would help and maybe one cross brace. You should be able to find something cheap thell work in plastic/wood/aluminum angle.
