I know it's exceedingly difficult to find anything that'll fit in something that small, but it's what I've got. Empty tanks bother me.

So I've got an empty standard 10 gal glass tank lying around with a screen lid, as well as reptile sand, molch (coconut fiber and cedar, I think. Maybe pine), a water bowl, and plenty of rock caves and sticks and things. I've also got some fish supplies lying around. It used to house a small juvenile female leo, but she passed away a few months ago.

Anyway, I'm thinking about restocking it. I've got a few ideas, but I'm not leaning toward any one yet. I'm also taking suggestions on fish, but obviously no monsters, so I didn't bother posting this on the other boards.

So far I've thought of:
A single betta
A single goldfish
Another leo
A viper gecko
Bahaman or green anoles (I'd rather not go for these, because I've had them my entire life)
Garter or ribbon snake
Small saltwater fish (Damsels, clowns, etc)

Honestly, a snake isn't too likely at this point. I love them and that would normally be my first choice, but my ball python recently escaped for 6 days, giving my parents a heart attack. I don't think any snakes or climbing lizards will be accepted for at least a couple months.

Still, any and all help is appreciated! Thanks!

Cedar is toxic to reptiles. Do NOT use cedar with any reptile. Anoles should have more than 10 gallons. They should have tall, planted cages. I don't recommend anything less than a 20H for anoles.

A tank that size isn't large enough for a ton of things, but there are a few. You said viper geckos; those are really cool. You could also go with a fat tail gecko. You said no to snakes, but if that changes, rosy boas are cool and can live in a 10 gallon. Children's pythons are also cool, and can live in a 10.
If you're interested in amphibians, you could go with an african clawed frog, or an axolotl. I thoroughly enjoy my ACFs and my axies.

Ah, sorry. It's cypress, not cedar. I knew it started with a c XD

As for a rosy boa or children's python, that would be awesome. I like constrictors better than colubrids for some reason. But are you sure they can live in a 10 gal? I thought they needed similar requirements to a ball python, and they need a 20-30 gal.

Well, I'll definitely check it out. Thanks!

That's a neat little fish, but I'm not sure my LPS will have one. I'll keep an eye out though.

Tell your LPS to place an order with Poseidon Aquatics - they're a whole saler that has scarlet badis in stock. Keep in mind they have to eat live foods, though.

We have them in at the store I work in, and they eat micro pellets perfectly fine. They also eat frozen perfectly fine. We've been carrying them for a couple months now.

Most care sheets say rosy boas can be kept in 10 gallon aquariums, and my adult female Children's python was in a 20 gallon when I got her, and she was fine in it. I moved her to a 20 gallon, but mostly because I wanted to use the 10 gallon for something else.

The only real issue with a 20 gallon is heating it. It's hard to get one end of the cage warm, and the other cool, so they can thermoregulate. I'd advise a heat pad over a heat lamp if you go this route.

If you're interested in inverts at all, most tarantulas would be fine in a 10- you could even keep a group of pink toes together. And then there are always scorpions, too. Emperor scorpions are fine in groups, and are cool little critters, especially if you have a black light.

I wouldn't mind a tarantula or scorpion at all, but my mom sure as hell would. She's not too thrilled about an 18" snake, either. XD But I know she'd give in to another snake before an arachnid or insect, no doubt.

Rosy boa could be pretty cool, if I can talk them into it... -crosses fingers-

Honestly I think the viper or leopard gecko would be the most likely choice at this point, since I've had a billion bettas and my dad hates goldfish....

But, we'll see. Thanks for the suggestions and keep em coming!
