Right now I only have a 2 gallon setup and I'm looking into a substantial upgrade (at this level) to a 10 gallon tank. I'm just looking for advice on filters/substrates/tanks, etc. I have some ideas about what I'm looking for, but I know that many of you have more experience than I do.

Any advice would be appreciated-

get an Aqua clear 20 to filter it and a 50-100 watt submersible heater, aqua clear has some good ones. the substrate can be anything u want, unless u have a fish with specific needs. whats the stock gonna be?

deaths sting
do you like fish sticks? do you like putting fish sticks in your mouth? what are you a *** fish? http://www.southparkstudios.com/crap/downloads/sounds.php
anyways use a aquaclear 20. thats what i use. or kinda cheap you could use a hydro sponge V or IV. they make smaller but those 2 sponges filter 125g and 80g respectfully. just hook up air tubing or a powerhead like the instructions.
that would work very well

Right now in the tank I currently have, I've got two guppies, three tetra, a mystery snail, and a ghost shrimp....those of course I'm going to transfer over

I'm thinking with the 10 gallon I'm looking to get some more ghost shrimp, maybe a cherry shrimp...and a couple of the silver dollar fish-just the basics and definitely some more tetra

Other than that i really want to get a submerged log and some aquatic plants...I have a sword leaf plant right now...

Thanks for the recommendations with the filter-I'll pick on of those up...

Any ideas with good aquatic plants or places to get some small aqautic logs?

Hey a 10g isn't big enough for silver dollars in the long run.

:iagree: the regular dollars get to be about 5", way too big for a 10g. Some neon tetra or serpae tetra would be nice.

You may want to think about getting more than 1 cherry shrimp...especially since they stay so small. On that same note I would say go with a dark (black) substrate so you can see the shrimp on the bottom (when they're down there) because if you have a white substrate you will have a very hard time locating them if there are only a couple in there.
