Anything besides Apistos, Rams, and cons?

I have 3 extra 10 gallon tanks, and I would probably use one for the parents and the others for fry. I'll probably end up selling the babies or feeding them to bigger and better things.:FIREdevil:cheers:

Don't JD's get like, 8"?

I didn't really want to do kribs either because the sex of the babies is determined by the pH of the water.

Don't yellow labs need a larger tank? I thought Africans needed a lot of space. If not, it's an option. How do you tell the sexes apart? Don't males have "egg-spots" on the anal fin? If that's true, then all the ones at the pet store are males.

Sorry for being so picky. :)

How do you sex jewels? I've heard males and females are very similar, and I don't really want to grow 5 or 6 fish, because I don't really have the room for that.

Blue Jack Dempsey, Jewel, or Yellow Labs. I know if you find a pair of blue JD's one inchers will go for about $10 and they don't get as big as their counterparts.
Although debateable, EBJD's grow just as big as JD, or even BJD's.

Apart from small African Shelldwellers, no other african cichlid IMO should be confined to a tiny 10g tank.

I've personally seen an 8" EBJD, plus, it's too time consuming for me to breed those.

I agree with the African cichlid comment. IMO they need a 55g and should be crowded(to a point) to curb aggression.

My gf has 3 brichardi in a 10 gallon in her bedroom...aragonite substrate, base rock from the local saltwater store, and a 10k light...looks really nice. Mock Nano tank almost...
