Hello I was curious wether I can use my old 10 gal as a hospital tank. It is the only spare tank I have. Think my jag might have ick. She is about 5-6 inches long. Will this be appropriate for her? I realize that it is small, but have no other options right now. Also how long should I isolate her for?

Thanks

I use a 10 for my quarantine/hospital tank. You just have to remember that it is not long term housing so it should be fine. I had to use mine to segregate my 4-5" jag after it got tore up fighting a green terror. It stayed in there about a month before I was able to set up my spare 55. If you think ich, I'd keep her seperate for at least 2 weeks with the water temp slowly raised to about 84-86 adding salt 1 tsp per 5 gallons.

A 10g makes a fine hospital tank for fish up to about 8", just do frequent waterchanges. Over filter without charcoal if you can and use an airstone as well. For Ich you want to use 2 tsp/gallon of salt and raise the temp. to around 86F. Treat for 10 days. Jags tolerate this salt level very well.
