I am starting a 10 gallon cycle and have looked through alot of books and online but I have not really been able to find which fish will be good in a 10 gallon.
I was woundering if people could start naming fish off for me if ya'll don't mind.
I would like something other than the typical guppy and danios and tetras but I am open minded so anything you can think of would help.
I also need something tropical because keeping water cool in the summer is hard here.
thanks so much for everyone always helping me.

german blue rams:) Perfect for a planted 10gallon.

Has anyone tried this stuff called cycle that is suppose to help cycle the tank? If so how did it work for you? I am using it to start my cycle.

Try a crayfish

I've used stability and got good results, but reactions about those types of products have been mixed.

Cycle is crap.... It's a product devised to empty wallets. It's only good for 6 generations and after that it dies and you are left with a basically uncycled tank, because it takes over from the natural bacteria.

If I did geta dwarf puffer what else could i put in the tank?
I was also woundering about some kind of eel or loach maybe.
What do you think?

i used corys

:swear: :WTF: So are you saying that you should not "jump-start" your car? After all when you disconnect the 'jump device' you are using the car battery again, so what’s the use? Perhaps a crank starter would be better.

I would think that you are speaking about a "fishless cycle" that jump-starts the NATURAL bacteria growth, by providing food for the bacteria...

Although I am a proponent of a live cycle, there is nothing wrong with a fishless cycle.

These 6 generations you are speaking of. Please tell us more.

Are they ... Generation of fish? Water changes? Biomaterial changes? Bacteria changes?

I must be missing something.

The fishless cycle is meant to establish nitrifying bacteria, so you can stock the tank at once rather than over time.
