10 in. male synspilum, new fish

Getting him thurs. from Jeff Rapps, what do you think of puttinh him in the 180 with 8in. JD, 5in. salvini, 2 8in. loiselli, couple 3-4 in. cons, 2-7in. tinfoils and a 5in. silver dollar?? Ive heard they are as mellow as oscars? I know each fish is different , just wanted some input. If not he gets his own 90. Either way cant wait, georgeous fish Ive never owned!!

Yeah, they are pretty mellow. It should be okay in your 180g.

I agree it should be alright but like all other cichlids they vary by fish. Mine is pretty mean to any fish smaller than it. Sounds like you have enough going on though and since he will be the new guy you should be alright.

I've got 2 in the 9-10" range.

It's funny they can be mean to fish their same size but they ignore fish in the 5-6" range and they try to eat fish smaller then 3"

Right now mine are in a 120XH with 75 frogs and 30 other cichlids.

They are neat fish and I think you will really like him.

You should be alright. I have a 5" Syn in my 180 with about the same amount of fish you have. He does go face to face with my 5" Texas and 6" Jag to liplock, but they never do. He is not a real troublemaker but I would not call him mellow.
