I am looking for a good home for my rescue fish, "Captain".... The people who had him before me was sold it as a Jack Dempsey.... they kept him in a 29 gallon tank for 1 year and only changed the water once that I was aware of... I finally(after months of trying) was able to convince them to let me have him... He was almost pure white. Since I have had him, I had him in a 55 at first, and currently have him in my 125 with 6 Yellow Labs(4"-6") and a Red Tail Black Shark(6").... No issues with them at all....
Just recently this fish was identified as a Tilapia, possibly Nile?...
I am into Lake Malawi Mbuna, not so much into this type of fish... However, I have become very attached to this guy and only want him to go to a good home that won't eat him. It is harder than you would think. Captain has the best personality of any fish I own. We call him our 'water dog'... He will splash the top when he is hungry, and will stare at you until you feed him... He follows you around everywhere, will eat out of your hand..etc.
We live in Eastern WA, and can travel a reasonable distance, or welcome anyone to come see him if they are interested. I have never shipped a fish, so I don't think that would be good for him. I just want him in a 75g+(preferably 100g+) tank where he can swim and grow. He has already gained some good color and has a bluish tint to his face, a reddish tint to the tail and back fins, and a greenish hue to his dorsal and bottom front fins....
If anyone is interested, please let me know!! I am not looking for any money, I just really want to find him a good home where he will be taken care of by someone who knows what his needs are....
Pics of "Captain" (sorry for the bad pics)
