id just like to share a very cheap and effective way of changing water w/o a lot of time and money, and hopefully some of you will make life a little bit better for your fish with cleaner water!
parts: light duty hose (5-20$) 10' 15' 20' 25' 50' just depends on how far the tank is away from faucet, threaded coupler for hose (1$)
all you have to do is take the female threaded side of the hose and cut off so its just rubber, thats the part that will go in ur tank upon refill, the other side has male threads, which the coupler connects too; as seen in pics (green piece), now my shower head just screws off and i twist the coupler/hose on the end of it, but i can also hook it to the bathtub spicket or you can find the right coupler to attatch it to the sink as well, all these parts are for very cheap at ur lhs. luckily my tank is somewhat close to a window so i just drain the old water out of it, but i could use the hose to drain into the bathtub, sink or w/e, once i drain out 60% or so i plug the hose into the shower and bring it to the tank, making sure its not kinked, then i take a clamp and clamp it to the rim so the water pressure doesn't move the hose creating a flood while refilling, i add prime (capful for 50 gals) then turn on the water, then i spot temp the water coming out of the hose making sure its within a half degree of the tank temp (very important to reduce stress among the fish!) and you can pick up a IR thermo at any store or lhs, very accurate/versatile!!!! after that, just fill up, turn off and roll hose back up, a quick 5 min 50-60 WCl wc! my fish love it, and much cheaper then a 50$
NOTE: BE SURE TO TURN OFF ANY FILTERS, HEATERS AND OR POWERHEADS, DRY IMPELLERS WIL RUIN PUMP ETC!
last 2 pics are of tank temp vs fresh water from shower temp PERFECT!!
