So is it harmful to do 10% water changes daily spread over 24 hours (drip system) using untreated tap water containing chlorine & chloramines?

I am currently keeping Datnioides & Clown Loaches. Would like to add a Merodontotus Tigrinus in the future.

your better off filling a large drum outside in the sun.. put an airstone in..
The sun breaks down the chlorine etc.. then just pump from there to your tank..

the chlorine will likely dissipate but the chloramine will remain. that is why it is used because it is more stable and will not dissipate with aeration.
thats why we use dechlorinator.

No unsafe if there is chloramine in the water supply.

I have been doing a 50% straight from tap on my ray tank for over 2 years and never add a problem

What are the levels of chlorine or chloramine in your water supply? Without knowing this your input has little value.

ive heard less then 20% wc untreated is ok . granted everybody has different chloramine levels.

i dont know if i would consistently do that tho.

run the tap water throw a HMA filter they are cheap and it will treat the water before its added to the tank

no need to add minerals

I change about that much water on my 400 gallon tank, it has a drip system. I run the water through a carbon drinking water filter. That works fine. The filters last about a year but when the filters start to loose effectiveness the fish are definitely irritated and scratching themselves.
