around the corner from the LFS
I recieved a 10" wolf fish in the mail today at 9:15am. He was taken out of the box and in water that was around 45 degrees he seemed to be completely dead belly up not breathing at all or moving at all for the 5 minutes i stared at him in the bag. I opened the bag grabbed him with my hand and he moved!!!!!!! I immediately put him in my tank he was gasping for breath but still floating upside down if I wasnt assisting him. He seems to have a pretty thick slime coat on him. Is there anything else I could do to help this poor guy out????

Did you purchase form a vendor? If so they have a live arrival guarantee but you may have voided that by opening the bag =\

Leave your lights off on the tank and make sure the water quality is good. He might be in some serious shock after going from 45 degree water to your tank water which should be in the 78-80's. If he was upside down in bag I would have taken a picture and shown the seller. Were there heat packs in the packing or any kind of insulation?

For now just monitor his behavior. If he continues to float upside down don't touch him or spook him to see if he'd swim right side up. If he still has some fight in him he'll make it through by himself.

GL!

that's a real shame.. certainly hope it wasn't one of our vendors that did this to you and your wolf.

what a friggin shame!!!!

Yes I contacted the seller he is very cooperative. He is willing to refund the money or send me out a 6" wolf in exchange after the holidays. He is a great guy and very understanding also a fellow MFKer

It is upsetting to lose the fish especially one of this size but without a doubt I will always keep this guy in my contacts and definitally get other fish from him. It was a mistake and a learning experience.

definitely not every MFKer knows how to ship fish decently ( I for one, don't. I know how to transport them myself, but not how to pack them for a trutsworthy shippment )

Good to know our Mfk'er member is a decent guy.

Was this a vendor or a personal sale? If so that's great service. Most people wouldn't refund or send out another after opening the bag and putting him in your tank. Glad to hear he'll work it out with you
