I work at the lfs in my town, and we just ordered 100 or so of the Pearl Danios, rasboras, whatever. I can't find any info on how to sex or breed them. I know they need soft water, and lower Ph, I just don't know if they are egg layers or live bearers; And If they lay eggs, in what manner? I'm planning on bringing home a 55, and planting it out, then I'm going to try to breed the little buggers. I Know a ban on wild caught might go into affect soon, so I want to be able to help the captive breeders.

Wow, thanks. I hunted around on google for hours and found nothing but forums of people talking about wanting to think about getting them. I never thought of just adding ".com" to the fish... That doesn't usually work. lol. thanks

Turns Out I do have two females and two males. I do plan on obtaining more, but I had one more question. There has been a freshwater Flounder living in the tank with them for some time now, and he doesn't seem to bother them. Should I take Him out? I know that they are supposed to eat small fish, but I kept guppy fry in the tank for a long time and he never ate any of them. It is a well Planted tank,Dwarf Hairgrass and some Glossastigma (Thats Probably not how to spell it, But I don't want to check...) So the fry would be able to hide in there. I don't want to post on the other Forum; New people scare me. That and I'm loyal to the monsterforums for some reason or another.

i think the hairgrass would be sufficient for the fry to hide, i'm getting some soon for my planted tank, i have a carpet of hairgrass and HC(dwarf baby tears) that's growing in.

The only thing in my tank as of right now is red crystal shrimp so i'm sure they pose no danger to the fry, but i'm worried about their eggs.

maybe you should move the flounder out of there, it might pluck at the eggs

I can. I have an Indoor pond with a sandbar that he would probably dig. I just brought a few more of the hundred home from the shop today too, so now I'm up to 10 0r 11 CPD's, and a few shrimp and the flounder. I think I will take the flounder out, just to be safe. This should actually be a fun project..

Wow...good luck on the breeding project. I've only seen these guys for sale once at a pet store an hour away and I think they were going for $10 each. But that store was kinda of pricey.

We sell them for 6.99, and people eat them up. I can barely keep them in the store. They are hard to order though, not many wholesalers can even find them I guess. I have a wholesalers something or another, so I get them at about a buck a piece...IF I can find them.
