I just got my first large tank and I'm practically spazzing out at the options here.

One set up that I'm considering is making an African predator tank. The BF and I fell in love with the polypterus delhezi (armoured bichir) and that's where it started. Later on we started thinking about a set up with our little bichir, a couple ctenopoma acutirostre (african leaf fish), and maybe a Pantodon buchholzi (african butterfly fish) or two.

Ideally, I'd like to add another mid level fish, maybe a small shoal of something 5"+ (angels?). The biggest limiting factor here is the bichir. He's going to be getting somewhere between 12"-16" from everything I've read. So whatever I add can't be bite-size. I'm worried enough for my butterflies once he's full grown.

Things to consider:

100 gallon tank
well planted
very well filtered
weekly 10% water changes
higher temp (78F)

Any ideas?

I hate to sound like such a girl, but I would love for more color/movement in the tank. So far all the fish are brown tones and not terribly active.
