I will be getting a 100-200 gallon freshwater aquarium coming up in the future. I've been thinking of how I want to stock it. I would like to breed as I have been the past 8 years or so.

I'd just like to hear your suggestions. I'd like to breed something interesting and colorful. And maybe a little more challenging than some cichlids like convicts and stuff.

I was thinking maybe discus or severum. Or any other cichlids. I'm open to non cichlids as well. Thanks in advance.

Also. I was thinking maybe I should stay away from discus since I hear they are picky on water conditions.

Also if it makes a difference. I live in Calgary. Water hardness is 160 average

And pH is around 7.2-7.6

If you want to sell fry, maybe ask your LFS what they would want/ or take.so many cichlid choices:green or red terrors, synspilum, chocolates, jags, RTM, loiselli, freddies, firemouths, jack dempsey, all kind of geos

HI everyone first time on.
You could try electric Jacks. Otherwise jags or normal jacks would be nice.

Hey thanks all for the suggestions. And I have bred blue gene jacks before. All I have left now is 2 males. Sold off all the fry. Didn't have room for all of them and someone offered me a good price for all.

I'm not really a fan on jacks. I found them to be unbelievably shy and skittish. Constantly banging into things having a panic attack whenever I made a slight movement.

Trying to get some more personable fish. I like the idea of jacks. Just not sure what I would do with all the fry as I dont see lots of local stores having them. Meaning they can get them. Or don't get them because no one wants them here.
