Should have it full today and begin cycling.

Awesome!

Yes, VERY neat plumbing. Hard to tell exactly how its going to flow, but I'm guessing it drains to a pump, pushes through the two canisters, through the UV, then gets pushed into the tank through the under gravel system? Is there a larger/different canister to be in use other than the two in the photos?

You hit it pretty close Conner, except the UV is actually an inline heater housing similar to this.

I'm using a regular Eheim 200 watt heater although the housing will hold a 250w if neccessary.

The only mechanical filtration is what you see in the photos.

Standard 2 1/2' x 10" Whole house filter housings bought on Ebay for $12 each delivered.
I use a similar setup on my 240 successfully, utilizing Pentair C-2606 50 Micron "pool" filter cartridges. I toyed with the idea of an Ocean Clear 325 or 340 but cheaped out. If I get 7 to 10 day service intervals, like the 240, I'll be happy enough.

The drain was built to accomodate a possible future 16 x 16 x 36 Refugium similar to this.

:duh:

Oh well, almost had it right. I thought it looked a little small for a UV, didn't even think about a heater, even though I've seen the thread where you showed how to make it.

Anyhow, very clean, efficient plumbing. I'll have to look into those filters on Ebay, the cheapest ones I've been able to find were over $20 each, without shipping.

Damn, Until a site goes down you don't realize how much you miss it.

Yeah, I was like a crack head without a way to get his crack.

I know. Especially when you have an emergency and need advice, and the only people that you know can help you are on this site...
