100% polyester batting as filter floss???

Can I use 100% polyester batting as a filter pad? I'm assuming I can but I thought I'd check first.

I just noticed that the bag says flame retardant. Would that be naturally flame retardant as polyester goes or chemical additive?

Okay,, I called the Co. & they said that there isn't anything added to it to make it flame retardant,, It's just the polyesters properties.
