Tomorrow , I'll be moving 2 of my tanks.
1 will be moved outdoors, while the other will be moved from 3rd floor to 2nd floor of the house. Fish inhabitant are arowanas and clown loaches.

I think i'll have to get rid of all the water as its really heavy. my tanks are 120 gallon tanks , the other one has a sump filter while the other one has an eheim 2250 canister.

any way to make the 100% water change less stressful?

i'm planning to put all the media from my sumo into a big drum, and fill it with the tank water. and also run the canister in the drum.

then bag the fishes and move the tank. , then i'll fill it up with tap water and dechlorinator. float the fish in the bag into the tank for maybe 15 - 30 minutes before releasing. any tips?

my tan ks ph are at 7.5 , out tapwater also comes out at 7.5 and usually stays at 7.5 , any problems with my plan?

The fish should already be acclimated to your water. The only thing you'd really have to monitor is the water temps making sure they remain close to what the fish are used or slowly acclimate them to the new temp.

If I have to move a tank I usually put the fish in 5g buckets, 10-20g ice chest, or a any kind of portable plastic container. Then once the tank is setup I add a little conditioned water then I just dump the fish in and start filling the tank like a normal water change.

I've even kept larger albeit hardy cichlids in buckets with sponge filters and heaters for a few hours while I setup the new tank.

thanks. Transfer of my tanks tommorow has been posponed :) will post update here after transfer :D

I'd run the tanks for at least 24hrs to allow the water to aerate so the ph levels are the same as what the fish are use to........

Well when I moved to a new house, what I did was I went to home depot and purchased 4 large plastic square bins around 30 gal. filled them 3/4's of the way and transfered as much water I could put it them (and still carry) and the fish in them from one house to another. they had tops so spilling was minimal. I got the cheapest ones, probably around $5 each. I'd rather play it safe and save losing fish. Plus I love the bins I use them all the time for my tank and other things, I even throw laundry in em lol .

they were something like this http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc...splay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053
but the cheaper version.
