Hello, I am planning to set a 1000 gallon 300x120x100 (cm) tank for my new house. I have couple of questions, what material should the aquarium be or what should be the thickness of the glass? How can I heat the tank effectively? I also plan to have a 250 gallon plastic tank to store water as the regular tap water in Turkey is not good enough. I plan to house two motoro stingrays, one silver arowana and a clown knife. Do you think I can add any other fish? If so what kind?

Glass thickness should be close to 1.25" if its all glass. Plywood, you might be able to get away with 1" but I would just go with 1.25" to be safe - I'm pretty conservative about stuff in this hobby though.

You could definitely keep more in that tank, what are you thinking?

Well, to be honest, I have no idea what to keep! I always wanted alligator gars but I doubt it is big enough.

if you are using the holding tank for water changes you should increase its capacity otherwise you are looking at 20-25% change which is probably insufficient for big aros.

Could do Florida gar, and ripsaw catfish.

By far the best catfish available to hobbyists. Gentle giants, personable, and just generally awesome fish.

Enes, you could really have any gar other than gator gar in there.

Thank you for your suggestions, I will surely think about the Florida Gar but I am not a fan of any catfish species. I also thought about changing the whole Arowana tank idea because my initial dream is owning an asian arowana but they start from 3,000 dollars here in Turkey so unfortunately that is pass. So my idea was having an all red bellied piranha tank? what do you think about that?

That's quite a big tank for piranhas - but it would look awesome. You could easily keep 30-40 full grown adult RBP in there.

You would have the option of planting the tank as well

Yeah, just the idea of keeping that big school of RBP's... and the feeding times! but I still can't decide. 75 cm Silver Arowana or RBPs? which one is gonna be more interesting?
