1000 gallon build

ok i'm fed up with trying to find a large aquarium so i'm building a 1000 gallon plywood i have a couple questions the tank will be
8'L x 4'W x 4'H for framing this up i was planing on using 2x4's ( i got 30 free) are 2x4 gonna be strong enough ? and in the front i'm gonna put in 2 viewing windows using 48x48 windows so it will leave me roughly 2 40x40 viewing windows is 1/2 glass gonna be thick enough ??? ( they were also free I'm gonna line it with pond armor

1/2 is not thick enough for a 4 foot tank

Also 4 foot deep is huge. you sure you need that?

and no.. 30 2x4 aint enough.. sorry m8 lotsa guides on here. just eead the 800 gallon thread or check out the articles section

I'm with ya on building a big tank...but I think there are some other things to consider first. Def check out the guides and other posts on here before beginning. I have been researching for about a month and I still don't feel ready. GL

heres a design for you that might work...or at least give you some ideas. Yes, its overkill.. but better having alot of support versus having too little.
I've priced it out, and, it would cost you around $150.

1/2" glass is not thick enough, sorry. I even considered a brace (like a +) across the glass to divide it into quarters and if you pre-stressed (tensioned) the glass inward...It might .work, but if there were any flaws in the glass...not worth the stress on you.

2 x 4's can be used if you use them correctly, tripple up on them in your construction, but the glass will not hold to the kind of pressure that 1000 gallons will create. More importantly, even if you built a smaller tank and used the glass, what kind glass is it? Glass are not all created the same and the wrong kind can explode even when used in a tank of 300 gallons, so find out first what you have before useing it.
