Any fresh water 1000 gallons or close to, owners out there, what are some of the pro and cons to owing such a large tank. I am considering moving up from my 300 to a 1000 gallon. Please help before I make a major mood :popcorn:

selling 300 gallon for 1500, buying 1000 gallon for 5500.00

Although i don't own a 1000G tank, i guess the obvious con about the 1000G is your water change bills are going to start getting expensive, along with the cost of filtration and electricity etc...

Good point, anyone else ever noticed much difference in electric bill when up grading?

As long as you use energy efficient pump and lights you could custom build a sump and lighting. It would be kind of expensive at first but in the long run you'll save some money.

A 1000 gallon would need less water changes if it's the same number of fish from the existing 300 gallon tank. But it would be different if their are more fish added to it.

for me, it tends to be 1000 gallon tanks are less fun. going over 500 really makes it kind of boring if your tank is so wide you can't see the fish if they are on the far side of the tank as well.

i had a 1000 gal at the shop i set up but it backfired when all the fish would hang out in the far end of the tank and it was a good 5 feet to the wall. you'd have to make it long and high to be worth the size as i find it hard to enjoy fish in a 1000 gal any more than in a reef. the point of a tank is to force the fish to be seen any time you want to see it. otherwise, build a pond and imagine how happy your fish are rather than watching them.

Interesting outlook,
I was honestly thinking with some monster fish like rays, ATF, Armatus, Dats etc, in such a large tank should look short of being at Sea world.:drool:
