i got a pair of small jags 4-5" and a small peacock bass growing in it. would a rena xp3 work? or would i have to get xp4 or something better

I googled XP3 and 4 flow rates. XP3 is 350 and XP4 is 450.

I would personally go XP4 and a Emperor 400. Or.... get a FX5, lol. The XP3 is 350, which would be 3.5X which IMO is a minimun, so a XP4 would do with a HOB if you have the dough.

go with what you have for now.. you can always add a sponge filter wuth a powerhead down the road

You're going to need a larger tank anyway, so you might as well get a larger filter.

I would go with a ac110 and the xp3 if the money is tight. If not go with a better can like eheim.
