A 100 gallon woudl be perfect for Pumpkinseed sunnies, Redbreasts, Some of the bigger shiners, and big chubs.....I am not sure what you want , do you want bottom dwellers, topminnows, sunfish...you can do alot with a 100gallon.

i was thinking a LMB, a crappie or two, some sunnies, a perch mabey a catfish?? and a few other things if i can catch some other stuff. i have 2 sunnies and a LMB in my 180 atm but ui want an all native tank. also ghow about in a 90g? and the sunnies are eating but what do i feed a lmb? hes eating live tadpoles but i want him onto frozen foods. he goes at kriil until he notices what it is

LMB have size limits and I am pretty sure they are larger than 9" in NYS.

Please don't break laws and ask folks on the board for help with your illegal activities.

a Largemouth cannot be kept in a 100gallon comfortably......and make sure you arent inadvertantly breaking the law by taking a small one (if hes big einough to keep he should stay in the 180g). Stonecats would be good for a 100gallon (do not get channel, white or Blue catfish they will outgrow your 100g quickly), of course for the Sunnies 100gs is perfect. If the Largemouth is big enough to keep and no one gives you an anwer here try the experts at the NANFA webpage .....theyre are several who have kept largemouths and would know how to get them to eat frozen foods.

http://www.dec.ny.gov/regs/4026.html

Not only do they have to be 12", its illegal to take them before June 19. Please take your unlawful habits elsewhere.

Third Saturday in June through November 30 12" 5 Dec.1 through the Friday preceding the third Saturday in June Catch and Release Only; Artificial Lures Only

okay i didnt know that. he os 12 icnhes though(thought he was 10 till ui out him in with my 10 inch oscarr and hes 2 inches or more bigger) did not know about the date of capture though. whts the time for crappie, sunnies, perch, cats, and ppikerel? i did not know about the law thing so please dont "tell me to take my iunlawfull ways or whatever elseware" if i had known i would not have takn him. cant put him back though can i? isnt that illeage too? can he stay for life in a 180g? i can keep him in there no problem.

Ignorance of the law does not excuse breaking it. I suggest you use the link I provided to look up the game laws.

I see no reason for me to look them up for you.

Ohh and learn to use spell check please. Your post is REALLY hard to read.

Make sure you check on all your laws before collecting fish, the NANFA website has a updated state list you can look at before you go. I am not going to attack you (we all make mistakes ) but I dont want to see you get in trouble with the law or get this website in trouble, alot of Native enthusiasts work with conservation dept or are biologists for universities etc and have no tolerance for new native fish enthusiasts, so make sure you get your info before your fish. I cannot tell you, you can keep your fish or return it to the water.....I can tell you that a Largemouth can live in a 180 gallon tank (I was told a 150 gallon would be minimum) you will have to check with the NY state regs to see the rest. Good luck electric-yellow and dont let this discourage you alot of people dont know the laws on collecting natives (but if you get caught in many states the law wont care about that) chalk it up as a learning experience.

im going fishing today and want to get some crappie, pikerel, perch and more sunnies but i will check the regulatioms first thanks. im going to keep the bass so i dont introduce anything to the lake in case therer is something in my tank. if he were in a native only tanjk i would release him but hes in with oscars and the such. thanks
