Hello. This is my first post on this site so please have patience with me :)

I Live in the UK and have only been into this hobby for the last 12 months and have discovered that its a heck of a big learning curve lol.

I am researching into setting up a 100 gallon tank ( uk gallons) for Central American cichlids.
I have a pair of breeding Convicts in a 30 gallon tank (uk gallons ) which have spawned for me several times ... the words " just add water and fish ' are certainly true lol. I also have a 50 gallon tank with 2 female Jack Dempseys in residence .

I would like to ask opinions from everyone on here,( as i'm sure there is a lot of experience I can learn from ) as to some guidence for stocking levels.

I am trying not to have another tank with breeding cichids but would like to have 2/3 bigger cichlids that would live comfortably together, so I'm assuming that this would be a male only tank.

I feel very ignorant asking this and i'm sure it has been asked so many times that you are all fed up lol... but any guidence would be appreciated

I look forward to hearing your advice and answering any questions you may need to ask me

Thank you xxxxxx Lily

do you want a variety??? or a pair or something??? i think you should get something like a 125 (uk gal) and you could keep some nice things in there. maybe for a 125 you could do a GT a JD a FH a JAG and some other stuff,, is there any specific you like?? i know you asked for what we think though.

i have an 80 gal with a breeding pair of jags although maybe you want the medium sized amerians although im kind of stepping away from the BIG BAD central americans although...... i think RD/Midas would go nice in there.

Gosh you lot are fast off the mark ... thank you xxx

Yes I'm looking towards a variety rather than a pair of fish. I have a breeding pair of convicts and a guppy tank and thats quite enough breeding for anyone! lolll

Thanks for all the input , I'm researching my way through all the sugestions

Mbuna , may I ask GT ? FH ?

The tank is a 400 litre which i think works out at 100 gallons (uk)

Green terror and Flower Horn although most Green terror is gold saum so... thats ok lol nice fish to go by though.. is there any in particualar you like?

A lot of the fish people are suggesting are South American and I noticed you asked for Central. Does that mean SA are out of the question? Are you dead set on CA? If so there are a lot that can be suggested. I would stick with medium sized fish (6-8") and slightly overstock it with lots of rockwork and some driftwood. Thorichthys spp., sajicas, salvini, rainbow cichlids, Honduran Red Points and many other similer sized CA cichlids would make for a very nice setup.

400L = 88 UK gallons
400L = 105 US gallons

GT's are very nice looking fish, I had 1 in a rio 300 with a shoal of 8 red rainbow fish, looked :drool:
