Alright, well I had a spare 105 gallon tank that I set up with the intention of growing out some Oscars for a 300gallon setup. I have decided that I would prefer a tank with a variety of smaller CA/SA cichlids. I have thought about blue acara or firemouths but thought I would open it up and ask for some ideas from everyone here with a little more experience. Filtration is two fluval 306s with two fluval 110 hang on backs incase more is needed, lighting is minimal, little bit darker tank than normal. Dimensions are 60" long, 19" wide and 21" tall, any ideas are welcome!

Yellow acara, ivanacara, honduran red points , electric blue jd's maybe a small group of red head tapajos

Heard and thought about some of those, haven't found a yellow acara for sale. Ebjd, do sound tempting. Other I will have to look up, think a pair of ebjd and firemouths or acara be alright in the space? I would think they would be since a pair do fine in a 55g and firemouths don't need as much space either.

After looking at the red head tapajos, Think that's where I am headed. Course the tank is setup with gravel, so switching it to sand would be recommended for this species. How would they do in a 75g
48x19x21?

Pool filter sand...im toying with yhe idea of using nat geo mini gravel for my next tank... baught a bag and didnt like it because some of the smaller particles get sucked up by the python and worried about them clogging my plumbing but am rethinking it now maybe try putting a pasta strainer in the toilet when I do wc

Yeah, i believe when i use sand it will be pool filter sand, best price and it doesnt look horrible.
So red head tapajos in a 75? Anyone think that's a bit cramped, its 48x18.
