Which return pump flow rate should I go with on a 75 gallon Arowana (maybe Datnoids) grow out tank? If it matters any, the pumps are a GenX 4100 and a Odyssea WP700. Hopefully I can get by with just a wet dry/trickle filter as my only filtration.

crap i didnt notice it was a 75 gallon... not too sure.. i personally dont think it will be to strong! but ask other people

what is the head height on both of these pumps? how high is it from the bottom of your wet dry to the top of your tank? this really matters because even through some pumps will flow less water but will pump water higher.

I don't know what the head height is. would head height still matter much at 4ft?

yup say that Oddysea pump flows 700gph at 0' and max height is 8' so at 4' it would roughly flow 350gph but a Mag Drive 7 flows 700gph at 0' but max height is 12' so at 4' it roughly flow 466gph.

just put a simple spray bar on your return if you think the 1085gph is going to be to much current.

The spray bar will distribute the flow thru out the tank and make the current less force full.

Etheir one will do just fine in the long run.

I'd go with the 700 gph pump. From personal experience... I have a 1200 gph pump for my 180gal and I think because it pumps so much water that it doesn't make the trickle filter trickle like rain drops as much as I want it to.. but it gets by. just my opinion. Let me know what you decide on.
