10g sump on a 55?

I am going to set up a 55 freshwater tank here soon and I have a spare 10g tank lying around, would it be worth turning it into a sump? I have googled and read a few books I know bigger is better for sumps and the ratio is about 55/3 for sump size so 10 might be a little small but people have said they have done it fine on that size tank.... should I just go and buy a 20g and turn the 10 into a QT? Or is it even big enough for that. Or possibly scrap the 10 for baffles on the 20?

Personally I would use a 20g with the 55 and use the 10g for a QT. The 10g would be perfect to use as a QT so you would be well on your way to having a healthy system.

My 55 gallon with a 10g sump is currently running for 17 or 18 years!
