i'm just using a small 10 gallon tank to house these 3 piranhas as juvies but i was curious as to how often i should be cycling the water...i would imagine it's more of a prominent issue in such a small tank, i'm hoping they grow quickly so i can move them into this 55...but i'd like to keep the water levels appropriate, i need to start testing nitrate levels i suppose...what is normal...hopefully 80 degrees F is adequate for them as well..any information would be much appreciated :)

i appreciate the help...and believe me so do my fish :) any chance you could elaborate on exactly what i should be doing and whether you mean 1-2 days or once or twice a day...thanks :)

twice a day and they are all ready too small for a ten gallon if they are 3.5 inches each. Even for a 55g your gonna be cutting it close with the 3 red bellies. A lot of places say they only get 12 inches but my girlfriends father has one thats got to be close to 18 inches in 135 gallon tank.

no they aren't 3.5 inches sorry i didn't make that clear....i have 3 piranha's total but htey are each apprx. 1/2 inches long they are very very small for the time being. should i still be changing the water one to two times a day?

wait sorry is it 3- 1/2 inch fish or 3 3 1/2 fish. If they are only a half inch your fine for now but still change the water twice a day.
