HI Everyone,

Im new to the forums this is my first post. I have a question we are currently building a new house and im doing plumbing for my aquarium room. And i was wondering if anyone uses a carbon filter for the tap water for water changes. It says it removes chlorine and odor. but i was wondering if it changes the PH or anything important of the water. thanks in advance!!

It will remove the odor, but not the chlorine.

Yes it will remove chlorine,HMA filters use carbon block filters to remove chlorine. There are certain carbon filters that will remove chloromine as well, which is used far more than chlorine in the UK in tapwater.
I will be using just such a system on my new 250 build for an auto water changer.

Coconut carbon is designed for air filtration rather than water filtration. Coal based carbons are best suited for water filtration.
As far as altering the pH, just make sure whatever carbon you get is acid washed and pH shouldn't be an issue.
