It could be a nice Peru/Ecuadorean biotope. Well, you may need a bigger tank but i love the idea of mixing gts and rts. I'm assuming the fish are still tiny, right?

im trying to figure out what to do that will bring their colors out a bit more. Im feeding them Hikari floating cichlid gold pellets, Hikari sinking carnivore pellets, and Kens premium color max flake.. also is it too late to try and add some other tank mates? if its not too late, what kind could i get to put in with them? there is 6 fish total in the tank right now

Quality food and clean water will provide the healthiest and best looking fish. I also found adding a blue light strip with my bright white lights looked nice. Your tank seems dark, but that may just be the pictures. Cool looking tank none-the-less.

I also have a marine glo(blue strip) light and one white light. I do a 30% water change about every 2 weeks.. Is it possible that plain black background has a negative effect on their color?
