Will this is my first time here Hello!
I have a 110g tank 60x18x24 , I've had this set-up with a Eheim Pro 2 2028
and a close loop with a Mag 5 , AM 1000, Hydro Heater 300w, with 6 t5 54w retro fit on my canopy .
Will with all this I still did not have good flow so I end up putting together a Blue Line 55 HD 1100g pump,Nu-Clear 533 an 547 filters an a Mazzie injector for my co2 . So the first time I crank this monster up I had problem with my pluming , I bottle neck my pvc an had to many elbows my temp in my tank was *90 24/7
So I change every thing again and used braided hose and remove the bottle neck and my temp drop down to *85 , I'm getting piss I can't get my tempt down so I'm going to try one more time I'm going to add 2 1in intakes an add a 1-1/2in intake line to the pump an see if the temp will drop.
Will my wife got mad about our electric bill for the past couple of months it was high , The only thing I could think was the pump? 180w's Will I told her an said the only thing I could do is get a NEW FILTER!!! with 50 or less watt's . :screwy:
So now I'm back into ether a New Eheim Pro 3 2080 or the FX5.
I have been doing a lot of research on these 2 filters . I never own a FX5 and I like there flow rate an price But I never had a problem with my Eheim Pro 2 for 10yr's

:headbang2

Welcome to MFK!

Why do you want such high flow rates? Personally I will never run another Fluval canister filter. Eheim's out perform any fluval canister by a long margin.

I only use Eheim... I ended up probably doing a lot of the same research as you are doing. One of the major things is the price of the two units... What ended up swaying me towards the Eheim was that the wattage of the 2080 is half of what the Fx5 is and it will pay that remainder off in the first 2 years of owning the filter. Plus the two Eheims I have had lasted me over 10 years each. They are the Clydesdale's of filters :)

2078= electronic little brother of 2080
2080= original of the pro 3 line, and largest of the professional series
2180= 2080 with a heater.

With Eheim's flow isn't the important thing. They are slower flow rated filters, to maximize biological filtration.
