I am starting a 112 gallon tank. I am kind of partial to cichlids because of their temperament and vast colors and size. What else would you consider for a tank of this size. Thanks

What are you interested in? Plenty of options, but usually it's better to pick a style of setup you like, and go for that, instead of a hodge-podge of different fish which may clash.

If you want cichlids- what kind? There are many different cichlids from four continents and Madagascar. They all are very diverse and thrive with different conditions.
I would spend some time doing some reading on this site. Don't rush into buying fish- look at what others are keeping, consider how much work you want to put into it, and what you want to get out of the fish. Then answer these questions and we can give some suggestions

Totally agree with Gourami Swami.

Do you at least know what type of cichlids you like? American, African? Bigger fish, dwarf cichlids?

Another good way to decide would be get your cycle going and see what your local water parameters are like. Then you can see what type of fish would do well without having to go crazy chasing parameters.

Along the lines of what SwampFins SwampFins said, if you are in the USA, cities have to publish the water quality reports and can be found online. You can see what your base parameters will be as in PH, hardness, then choose fish that thrive in those peramaters. It's better to have steady water peramaters than trying to adjust up or down to suite a fish better.

South Americas like lower PH soft water
Central Americans like higher PH hard water
My cities water has high PH and is liquid rock so I changed from South to Centrals.
