hey y'all!

New to the forum, and super stoked on all the information I've read already.

I've recently picked up a 115gallon tank from a coworker with sump, stand and everything.

I've got a mix between sand and gravel in as a substrate and some fake plants some rocks and some wood in the tank already, just having a hard time picking my stocking options.

I'd really like a wild caught tiger oscar, and maybe a pair of JDs or electric blue JDs? And a some sort of sailfin pleco. But I'd like to add a few others if I can.

I do water changes weekly with the garbage fish I have in it right now.

Demensions are 5' by 18' like 18'

um i hate to break it to you but if this is a for life tank for these fish the oscar alone is going to fill er up.

An oscar by itself needs 115 gallons ? If not an oscar I'd just like some larger more colorful fish I'm not too opposed to not doing an oscar. I just like the aggressive nature of cichlids

If you are looking for colorful and aggressive with no tank upgrades needed down the line, consider African cichlids... they don't get nearly as large on average and still have lots of personality.

If you want aggressive try a salvini, with a pair of JDs and smaller pike cichlid (belly crawler maybe).... it will give you hours of fun feeding with good colours and plenty of personality. I know I had this set up for a while and it was awesome!

It would be an expensive choice, but a colorful cichlid that would last for life could be discus. They probably require a bit more maintenance, but they are beautiful!

I would do some cryptoheros species, sajica my favorite of all them. A male will look impressive in there with other similar sized tankmates.

Im planning a 100 gal around a group of Thorichthys maculipinnis. They aren't the most aggressive fish from what i have seen but they can hold thier own vs most fish of similar size and are sure as hell colourful. This is what really inspired me

The other thing i was considering was a an African cichlid tank as others have suggested.

The African cichlids I have seen just don't seem to pop out at me like the bigger SA tanks. That being said when I'm stuck to my tank for the time being I've come to the realization I can't have my "dream" tank yet.

So here is what my newer idea of stocking list looks like. Any opinions? Still too much fish or am I right in that sweet spot.
