?
I just got my hands on a 11w pondmaster uv sterilizer from my lfs.i originally had a 1050lph pump on it but it wouldnt pump enough flow so i upped in to a 2000lph pump and is flowing good.does anyone know if the uv is still going to be effective running that pump? Im using it on my 8x2x2. Any ideas anyone? cheers

I forgot liters to gallons :(. I try to keep mine around 150 GPH. I sometimes bump it up too around 170 GPH, but no more.

I think your pond master UV is rated for as much as a 700 GPH pump, but slower is better. You should be OK

ya when it comes to UV sterilizers I have read that it is best to match the volume of the tank per cycle...

So on your 240gal you would want somewhere around 240gal/h... because the water needs to be in the UV rays for along as possible hense the low flow rate.

so you might be better off with your old pump roughly 277gal/h... oh there is 3.79L in one US Gal

The flow through a UV can be slowed by using a bypass valve. All of the water does not have to go through the sterilizer.

cheers everyone, im pretty sure i have an old ehiem regulator valve somewhere so il use that to slow it down.thanx again

A 11w UV should have a flow of NO MORE then 200 l/ph.
At 2000 l/ph its going to do nothing whatsoever.
