There was a CL ad and I responded. I was only interested in a few of them, but the woman offered them all to me for $80. Something about her father in law moving and couldn't take all the aquariums and dumped them at her place. Here's what I got:

2X 10g - one will be given to my Dad for QT, hospital

1X 20g high

3X 20g long - some have chips. I'll disassmble, make good ones and used the parts for sumps.

4X 29g high - these are drilled in the bottom and the top - they'll be grow tanks for my "hope to be breeding large cichlid project". Three of them need bottom frames.

1X 40g breeder - this thing is a mess w/ ton of cracks, it'll be disassembled and the glass used for repairs and sumps

1X 55g - this has a short side cracked piece - it'll be repaired and used as a sump for the grow out tanks

I'm pleased that I was able to acquire these, but I didn't need them. I believe most of them were used for housing snakes and some are pretty scratched up. Nonetheless, if I can salvage a couple and make sumps out of the rest, I'll be happy.

The biggest problem I'm running into is trying to store these in such a manner that my wife won't see all of them. Her held will explode when she sees them.

This is the another great deal I got from CL. If you're looking for good deals, they are out there. You just have to be patient.

That is a sweet deal. My wife would of gone off on me especially since I already have 5 tanks going and have 4 more empty ones. I keep telling her if she gets me at least a 150 I'll dismantle 2 of the other tanks. I just don't tell her the 2 29's.

I was pretty excited about the deal. I was also hesitant because of knowing she already wasn't happy w/ the amount of tanks I have accumulated. The biggest problem is that the only fish I'm keeping right now are the goldfish from our pond in the 300g stock tank in the basement.:screwy: My goal is to be able to get a tank going in almost each room. I'm holding off until my son gets a little older. With one two and a half year old and a two month old, there isn't much time for other things.

that is the best deal ive seen so far. for a preson like me that likes alot of little tanks that rocks :D:D

I'd leave the goldfish outside and put something else in that 300g. I leave my goldfish and koi outside in our 2 ponds every winter and they havn't died yet. It just has to be 18 inches deep and have a pond heater so the gases escape.

Sounds like you might have scored. Most of those tanks would be worthless to me because I do not have glass working skills.

I have not glass working skills yet either. I plan on acquiring some since I bought all these tanks.

I'm hoping to utilize them accordingly. They're kind of rough, but I'm hoping some clean up so I can use them for show tanks. If not, they'll be growout tanks in the basement.

That's my plan for next year. I had been leaving them outside, but lost one of my nicest ones last winter. Then we had the heron incident and my wife bought all new ones that I'm really fond of. I didn't want to lose any over the winter. I'm planning on a small heater and a cover for next year.

The summer plan is to get a pair of Dovii and start breeding them in the 300g tank. Then I have the four 29 growout tanks. Heating the 300g would be via a waterbed heater or a hot tub heater.

sweet deal! make sure the tanks were meant to hold water. i know reptile tanks use thinner glass.

I'm already on it. The 55g has thinner glass at 3/16", but will still be ok for a w/d.

Why dont you leave the tanks with your dad to hold them? That way your wife wont see them.

Good suggestion. The only problem is my Dad is an hour away and I've already made two trips and don't have them all home yet. Plus, my Mom would probably blow a bigger gasket than my wife. My Mom has OCD where as my wife just hates that I'm a hoarder.
