I am looking at getting a nano cube with regular canopy from dr fosters, see link http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3730+10677&pcatid=10677. Is the deluxe canopy really necessary? What would I need that for? It says to meet the needs for serious reef enthusiasts. Is it really worth the $70 bucks or will one 24watt 50/50 light be fine? I would like to have some type of mini reef at some point. What coral or anenome for that matter would require 2 24watt 50/50 watts? I was looking at just setting up with live rock, live sand some red/white shrimp(I can't think of their exact name), hermit crabs, snails, and a clown fish, and possibly an anenome of some kind. Its still in project stages, I just want somthing nice for the desk.
I guess my main question is which cube should I get for the price, Is $70 bucks really worth the upgrade?

For what I'm using it for I think I will just go with the regular canopy, another question though. I talked to a guy at a lfs and he said that you can use a small amount of live rock and then buy other rock that looks like live rock and it will also become live rock. I have never heard of that. He seemed pretty knowledgeable for his age. He also said the clowns I was looking at (peliculas), don't go in the anenomes like other species do. Can someone clear up some of this for me.. Sorry for all the questions.

<< If your not keeping corals, the normal canopy is fine>>

<<Low light corals like shrooms and zoa's...forget anemone's due ot insufficient tank size and lighting>>

I was looking at just setting up with live rock, live sand some red/white shrimp(I can't think of their exact name)

<< Lysmata amboinensis>>

, hermit crabs, snails, and a clown fish, and possibly an anenome of some kind.

<<No probs with any of that, besides the anemone...too small>>

Its still in project stages, I just want somthing nice for the desk.

<<I would think thats best...You can always upgrade at a later time>>

, another question though. I talked to a guy at a lfs and he said that you can use a small amount of live rock and then buy other rock that looks like live rock and it will also become live rock.

<<He will be refering to either ocean rock or dead rock. Ocean rock is just basic rock, which, to a certain degree "could" add to filtration, after about 8 or so months...Dead rock, will certainly become live again, takes a good few months for it to become live again though>>

I have never heard of that. He seemed pretty knowledgeable for his age. He also said the clowns I was looking at (peliculas), don't go in the anenomes like other species do. Can someone clear up some of this for me..

<<Sounds like he will be refering to tank bred false percs...Its very common for these not to ever host an anemone without help. Simply because they are tank bred and will of never seen or come across an anemone before...>>

Sorry for all the questions.
