Michigan
could i put some type of native fish in there??

yah there are some really small natives, you could use pygmy sunfish, mosquito fish, flagfish, some darters, some killi fish, topminnows, some types of shiners, blue spotted, banded or black banned sunfish just to name a few

just make sure you acquaint yourself with your local native laws, I don't know about Michigan but some of the other states have strict rules and harsh penalties.

Tiny Fish Tank:
Elassoma zonatum, banded pygmy sunfish
Elassoma evergladei, Everglades pygmy sunfish
Elassoma okeefenokee, okeefenokee pygmy sunfish
Etheostoma serrifer, sawcheek darter
Etheostoma fusiforme, swamp darter
Pteronotropis stonei, lowland shiner
Lucania goodei, bluefin killifish
Heterandria formosa, least killifish, pygmy livebearer
Lucania parva, rainwater killifish
Cambarellus shufeldtii, dwarf crayfish

Yes there are many small shiners, darters and pygmy Sunfish that would do well in a 12g.
thanks cool :)

Could all those work in a 12? Don't know much about the sizes of these fish.

Not all at once, lol, but all of these fish are from neon size to probably dwarf gourami sized and the benifit is no heat required! But as always check your species out on Google to get all the details about the fish before you buy or catch them...I have yet to not find any species that doesn't at least have the adult size listed when researching on Google.

Also, check out Johna's fish list too, you can order these guys cheap!
