I finally bought a large 12 inch male blackbelt cichlid. I've been looking for a large male since January. I almost bought one for $1,000 ( but it was sold a week before I had money ). The one I bought only cost me $59.99. The only problem I have is he has yet to eat. I bought him two weeks ago. My girlfriend named him Rocky. Rocky is housed is a 75 gallon all to himself. I'm finally really :) that I have the fish I've always wanted!!! I would be LOT'S :) if Rocky ate. I've been trying to get him to eat Cichlid Gold and Cichlid Staple ( which are pellets ). The water's ph, amonia , and temperature levels are all normal. Please give me some suggestions............
 
I have some young BB cichlids. They demolish every thing I put in that tank. I put in some frogbit and water lettuce and it was gone in like 2 days. So, don't be afraid to try giving them plant matter.
 
damm $1000 for a black belt??? that is ridiculous... I would of sold you one of mine for $500 lol



I can buy them here for $5 as babies and about $40 as adults so you did good on the final price... lets see some pics....... Mine eat everyting so you should just find out what he was eating fromt the previous owner start with that then ween him onto your prefered diet
 
not to jack the thread but where do you get your fish in DM?
 
Dude why would a bb be worth a grand:screwy: to u:WHOA: ?i am not picking on u:D just that it is a fairly common cichlid and the 60$ u paid sounds fair to me. A 12" bb is a beutiful fish:grinno: but i just don't get how u where willing to pay that much for it.
 
There are only a few fish I know of that are worth $1000, and a BB isn't one of them..haha. Even if it was top notch, show quality F0 male, it still SHOULDN'T cost more than $200...your lucky you didn't spend that much on it! Oy! Great pick up though man on the cheaper, BETTER fish...:D
 
You waited almost a year for a fish to appear...you are one focused fishman :thumbsup: . One grand for a bb is too much, glad you didn't.
