At 12", I'd say it'll only take a couple days for him to damage your acrylic. These guys will rasp on anything and everything.

Here's an example of one of my old royals teeth.

I would be afraid of it. No way would I put one in an acrylic tank that I care about.

I know from first hand experience the severity of the teeth of the fish that tb posted.

oh man will he really??? does anyone know of a case in which it has happened???? is there any way i can prevent it??? also what should i feed him??

thanks

Yes, at that size they can cause many problems to acrylic. To feed them, check the sticky. These fish need wood in their diet, and it is very important to their health. They also need many types of vegetation.

I have alot of driftwood.... i can feed him zuchini also... what other veggies can i feed him?

thanks

Any that won't pollute your water quickly or mess with you parameters. ie. acidic fruits.

ok well will the scratches be very visible or will they be small?? I can see that he has big teeth but will the tank be badly scratched??

thanks

In due time, you're expensive acrylic tank will be something you're embarrassed to show to company. Get that guy in a glass tank if you care about your acrylic.:nilly:
