Alright, after solving another protozoan issue (although thankfully no losses this time) , I find myself back at the drawing table for this tank. I can never settle for what I want it to be.
Currently its running fairly high nutrients, somewhere between 100-150 on the nitrate but no apparent issue with algae. Running an Eshopps skimmer rated for what I believe to be 210 gallons and a fuge in a 30 gal sump. Thinking of adding a big bag of chemi pure even though clarity has been great (thinking it may eat at some phosphates). Considering carbon dosing to help with nitrates but wondering if lowering them is even necessary? Fish seem healthy with no abnormal behaviors... Alright here is what I am working with so far/

V-tail grouper 4"
Convict Tang 3"
French Angel 6"
Porcupine Puffer 4"
Green Scat 4"
Picasso Trigger 3"

Would it be wise to add anymore fish to this system? I'm well aware most of them will outgrow it as is. I was thinking a bicolor angel may make for a great flash of color though. Maybe even a butterfly fish? Any thoughts on how much capacity I have left? My only current issue is the Scat and Angel are constantly fussing at each other, considering removing the scat altogether.

I wouldn't add anything. That tank will look cramped once those fish have grown out a few months. 150 ppm is egregiously high nitrates if that's accurate, toxic imo. Surprised there isn't algae, I'm constantly scraping with my tanks staying between 0-40 ppm.

I've had a lot of territorial aggression from my bicolor. It would definitely squabble with some of those fish.

my first thought was the nitrate being extremely high as well, I actually figured I had an issue on my hand. Others on reefing forums have told me that they run their Nitrates in their fowlrs upwards of 200+, apparently it’s harmless until 500ppm? Anyways I may hold off, I’ve been told by a few the bicolor would be fine and some people have even mentioned several more fish would be fine. The tank shockingly doesn’t feel cramped, the trigger and grouper hang in the rockwork while the others
are all out front.

Oh yes I should have mentioned this is a 2 by 4 foot 120 and not the normal 6 foot one. It’s also like 30 inches tall I believe. It has a lot of depth to it.

Beats me then. I am fairly new to fowlr tanks so maybe the rules are different I guess. Just knowing what I know about fish physiology though, I can't imagine prolonged exposure to nitrate levels that high is healthy for any fish.
